Natural Eczema Cures
Natural Eczema Cures
Natural eczema treatments may take longer to be effective than conventional solutions for eczema but are safer for the skin and health in general in the long run. The following natural eczema treatments have been found to be very effective.
Moisturization
The more moisture there is in your skin then the less it can split and crack and itch and flake. The more often the skin is moisturised the better, but as a minimum twice a day should show some real gains. Moisturization is best done immediately after bathing – applying the moisturiser directly to damp skin as this will help trap water within the skin.
Lifestyle
eczema can be relieved by making adjustments to your lifestyle. For example, avoid itchy clothing – woolens are out, and try to find clothing made only of soft 100% cotton. Avoid all perfumes and scents especially those that are applied directly to the skin. Only use fragrance free unscented detergents and toiletries.
Coconut Oil
Virgin coconut oil has an immediate soothing effect on eczema, dermatitis and other skin conditions.
Its effective ingredient is a medium-chained fatty acid called Lauruic acid (also contained in mothers’ milk) which is widely known for its antiviral and antibacterial properties. As it has absolutely no side effects it is a very attractive option for the treatment of eczema.
Vitamin E
eczema can respond well to Vitamin E either applied directly to the skin or taken orally. Vitamin E is a very powerful antioxidant which helps greatly to reduce the itching and inflammation associated with eczema. There are two types of Vitamin E widely available – artificial and natural. Stay clear of the artificial Vitamin E because the body cannot process it so it will have no beneficial effects on eczema.
Blueberry Extract
Blueberry leaves contain Chlorogenic acid which is an anti-inflammatory agent. Apply blueberry extract lotion or cream twice a day to eczema and it will quickly reduce discomfort and swelling.
